Ms. Melville.....( answer's to the question paragraph.)

"Should Constitution High School have sex education class?" I have asked my question to five of my classmates and their opinions. The first category is based on how students need to be educated about what's going around in this world. Myles stated "yes, so we can learn what and what not to do. " The next category is about the STD and Pregnancy rates. If the students are getting educated on what not to do then the STD and Pregnancy rates would go down. Sierra replied as a "yes" her explanation was " so that the youth would lower the amount of STD's and Pregnancies. The final category is based on knowing how to change the future. When asking the question to Rory, he responded as a "yes" also, but his explanation was " so that the youth would know about sex while growing and won't get anything then learn about it. " Those are the answer's from other's, and what was their opinion to my question.

Reflection on the Election

This presidential election meant a lot to me. Seeing Barack Obama becoming the 44Th president was a historical event. When i will become an elderly person I will have something every important to tell my children and grandchildren what i was living and how old i was during this event. I was so happy that night that i stayed up all night to to make sure that Obama would win.

I think that everyone in the U.S voted for Obama because of the changes he is willing to make. The most important change to me is the education. He wants to improve the education system. I will be able to have a good role model like he knew he was going to become the president he tried he hardest and he work hard to become something, That makes me want to try more. Since the education is going to get better i have an better chance of becoming what i really want to. Also, he said that he was going to lower taxes, and my mother will be able to do more with her money. This means a lot to me and y family because this is a historical event and all of the changes again will help us. One more thing i think he was going to do is end the war in Iraq. this means we will be having more money to support our country. This is what Barack Obama winning means to me.

Even though the 19th amendment helped, the women gain the right to vote, many woman still
felt threatened by the men and did not vote at all. Susan B. Anthony was a prominent American
Civil Rights leader who played a major role in the 19th century women’s rights movement to
introduce women’s suffrage into the United States. Because of her traveling throughout the
United States and Europe and giving 75 to 100 speeches per year even though she died 14 years,
five months, and five days before the passage of the 19th amendment most of the work and
effort is all due to her. Today women still do not have all of the equal rights as a man does but
when it comes down to voting Susan B. Anthony has made that happen for all females.
After the civil war Susan B. Anthony was upset because the people who where working for
“Negro” suffrage were willing to continue to exclude women from voting rights. Susan B. Anthony used to be a teacher but when she found out that men where being paid more than she was she started acting. A friendship with Amelia Bloomer led to a meeting with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Stanton became her lifelong partner in political organizing, especially for women’s rights and women suffrage. Together the two women made a great team. Anthony managed most of the business affairs while Stanton did most of the writing of the women’s right movements. From 1868 to 1870, Stanton and Anthony edited and published a women’s newspaper called Revolution. In 1869, they formed the National Woman Suffrage Association. They traveled all over the country and abroad, promoting women’s rights. There talents that they used were there speeches and there newspapers this is how they got the other women’s feedback. This had a major impact on Susan B. Anthony’s time because she did not have any kids or get married and this was because she was to busy traveling around the world and helping other women she never had time to settle down and start a family of her own. Just one month before Anthony died; she attended her last suffrage convention.
She made her last speech stating, “Failure is impossible” from this statement I can say that I believe that Anthony knew that women were going to get there rights some day. After her death, only four states gave women the right to vote. However, 14 years later the amendment that stated that women had equal rights was added to the constitution, which is known as the 19th amendment.
Susan B. Anthony is famous for being a women’s right leader. We should care about Anthony because she helped women of all colors and races stand up for there rights. She put her life on hold to help others out. Even though Susan B. Anthony did not live to see what she accomplished I believe that she knew that her day was going to come eventually and if she were alive today, she would be proud of what she has done to help the entire world.

Rough Draft....(Ms.Melville)

In Animal Farm it is not the physical strong who survives it is the mental strong who survives. The book Animal Farm written by George Orwell, in 1945 in England. He most likely wrote this to criticize Stalin with him being a dictator and all of the people for being stupid and believing him. There are three characters in the story that was examples of this. Squealer, Benjamin, and Boxer.

The character Squealer twisted the story. When he was telling the other pigs that they where now able to sleep in the beds. "You have heard then, comrades, he sad we pigs now sleep in the beds of the farmhouse." When he knew that none of the animals where able to sleep in beds, which it said that in the seven commandments. There was something about the milk and apples he twisted that story to. He told the animals that the pigs stole the apples and milk for an important reason. Then when they found that Boxer died he lied about that story also. The real story was that Boxer got sold to the horse slaughter. He told the animals "Boxer went and died in a good hospital." Because Squealer was a master of twisting up stories, he ended up rich and powerful at the end of the story.

The next character is Benjamin, he was the animal that was specious about the stories people told him. He didn't get in to any trouble. Benjamin was specious about the storied because he knew how to read and he knew what everything said, and about the seven commandments he knew exactly what they read. He was the only one who didn't take peoples sides, he didn't like doing that. He didn't believe anyone. He said " food would not be plentiful", because there were lots of the animals and not enough food. Also, he said that "the windmill was not saving any work". When it came down to Boxer's death he didn't believe the story. He didn't believe the stories because he was able to read and he read what really happened to Boxer, and how he died. Since he didn't take sides and believe the others storied he survived safely.

The character Boxer believed everything he was told. When the animals were killed he want and asked questions. He asked Squelar and Napeolean on how the animals died. They were such good story tellers that they persuaded him into believing them on how they animals died. He asked " can we have one back, of what we had before?" No one answered. Boxer was staying loyal no matter what happened. He said " I will work harder then before." Then he stated " Naps are always better, for better work." Boxer believed them when they said that he was going to the hospital to get better. The real story was that they took him to the horse slaughter. Now that Boxer was an animal that believed everything he was told her got sold to the horse slaughter and got killed.

How the Animals deal with storied has a major impact on weather they survive. Since, Squealer was a master of twisting up stories, he ended up rich and powerful at the end of the story. Also, Benjamin did not believed they stories he was still alive and survived sly . The last character Boxer was giving to the horse slaughter and he got killed. This book gives a clear picture of what happens when a society is not educated enough to see through the lies they are being told through out their lives.

4TH ANNotation

I have read the book "Eighty Years & more" By Elizabeth Cady Stanton. She was talking about how her and Susan B. Anthony were like best friends. She lived by her self. when she came home to visit her family she seen that her parents and her sisters attending the rochester meetings. Anthony was interested in the anti- slavery and temperance reforms, also she was a member of the organization called "The Daughters of Temperance", and she had spoken in some of those meetings they were holding. The "Woman's rights" foundation got her hooked. She thought that was a good foundation. From that moment on she was interested in the women's rights movement. She wanted to help every women to get their rights that should have. She went to movements, speeches, and even held her own meetings with others. When she tried to go to the people and argue how women should get their rights and African American men should be granted the same rights as white men. She was going around all over the world, and  she was making speeches about this.

Napoleon lied to the other animals for a lot of reasons. He lied because he wanted all of the animals to turn their backs on Snowball. One reason Napoleon was lying to the animals was because he wanted to kill Snowball. In the story, is says that Napoleon said to the animals, "Comrades here and now i pronounce the death sentence upon Snowball." Another reason he lied to the animals was because, he wanted to get his way through everything. To do this he was changing all of the amendments to the things he wanted them to believe, the animals could not read and they did not think that Napoleon would lie to them because he was a pig so they believed him. He did not have to talk for all of the animals to believe what he was saying the just did. The final reason he lied was because he wanted a lot of more power then Snowball. Napoleon trained the dogs to be attack dogs. He also made all o the animals start to work hared then they had to. Those are some ways why Napoleon lied to the animals.

Third Annotation...

This article was about Susan B Anthony and her life, and how she become involved in the woman's rights movements. She thought that all women were suffering. In 1861, she took the 13Th amendment to abolish slavery. Also, in 1865 is took the 14Th and 15Th amendments to get the woman's rights and the African American males. The people that were against abolishing slavery just brushed her to the side and continued doing what they were doing, because they thought that, that was not the right to to worry about women's suffrage. Susan and the 15 Rochester comrades became the first women to vote. Since they were that bare to vote knowing that they were not suppose to, they got arrested and Susan took that to the supreme courts as a case. She stated "Is it wrong for an citizen to vote?", but she lose the case and she was set on bail for $1,000. The rest of her life she was working for the Federal suffrage amendment. Still tyring to get woman their rights. Just one month before she died, she attended her last suffrage convention. She made her last speech, stating "Failure is impossible" she knew that woman were going to get their rights some day or another. After her death only in 4 states they women were granted the right to vote. Also, 14 years later after her death, the amendments that stated that woman had rights was posed to the Constitution which is now the 19Th amendment.

Second Annotation

Susan B. Anthony was once a teacher in a school, and one day she found out that male teachers got paid more the female teachers. She took this to a the campaign that they were having, when she went to go up and have a speech they told her that she couldn't make a speech. Since, Anthony was a very strong women she had the women's rights movement started. Her and Stanton were creating a news paper and they called it "The Revolution" this ment to give the men their rights and nothing more, and give the women their rights and nothing less. In order for her to press a test case of her belief that women, as citizens, could not be denied the ballot, Anthony voted. She was tried, convicted and fined for voting illegally. She didn't really care becuase she wanted to show them on how she felt about women's rights. She travled around the country to let every women knoe about their rights. Until she started to die. She couldn't do anything anymore.

This article help me out more then the last one, because it told me more about how she felt about womens rights.

The first annotation.

Susan B. Anthony was a women who was fightin for women suffrage. After the Civil War, discouraged that those working for "Negro" suffrage were willing to continue to exclude women from voting rights. So she started to look into women voting more. She helped to found the American Equal Rights Association in 1866, and in 1868 with Stanton as editor, became publisher of Revolution. In 1872, she atempted that the constitution said that women can vote, so Susan B. Anythony voted in Rochester, New York, in the presidential election. She was found gulity of voting so they tried to make her a fine for voting. She refused to pay anything. They made her pay. She also, didn't believe in abortion she thought that the men, laws and double standard lead women into getting an abortion. Susan was mad that the fifteenth amendment pu tthe word "male" into the constitution for the first time in permitting suffrage for freedmen. She also, stated that educated white woman would be better voters than "ignorant" black men or immigrant men. In 1860's she said that the voting for freedom was a danger to the white women, she did not want to black people to be freed.

This article was helpful to my resreach because it said how she was fighting for woman's rights but at the same time, she was very racisit and i didn't know all f this information about her.

"The most dangerous game."

Ms. Melville
English

In the story “The Dangerous Game”, I think the character Zaroff believed in liberty more then equality. These are the three reason’s why I believe that. When the story first introduces Zaroff it says how he lives on an island that he brought just for hunting. On this island he hunted animals and human, he thought hunting human would be more fun since he killed so many animals, and he was tried of hunting down animals. In the story it states that Zaroff said, “ Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and if need be taken by the strong.” Also, he doesn’t mind if people was to get killed. Zaroff would put men into training camps and train them to be just like him so when he goes to hunt them down it would be more of a challenge, and more fun. He put Rainsford into one of those camps so they can battle each other, Rainsford was better than Zaroff so he got even angrier and tried to kill him more, but he died in the end of their battle. At the end of the story, I believe Zaroff stills values liberty more. Another reason is because he says, “ I am strong, why should I not use my gift?, If I wish to hunt why should I not?”. In this statement I think he was trying to say if he wants to do something why should he listen to anybody?, and also, is he wishes to do something then he will do it. Those are the three reasons why I believe that Zaroff values liberty more than equality.

What is service leraning?

Service learning is when you volunteer to do something for somebody to make the community a better place. There is lots of things that are available to do. When you volunteer to do something to do you would have to get them to sign a paper in order for you to get credit.

Summary of N.H.D....

I am working in a group of four people. We are picking Charles Dickens because he was trying to approve people's social life and his books brought out to the public eye the horrific conditions of the time. He also, changed the way people looked at liteature. my group is planing on doing a play about his life and we are going to put in a piece of one of his plays. If charles Dickens didn't exist then people wouldn't look at liteature the way they do today.

http://www.victorianweb.org/authors/dickens/index.html

The next president...

Barrack Obama should be the next president because, he is planning on changing

the nation. The things that he is planning on changing are the energy source, oil

Problems, education, health care, wage taxes, and the economy.

Barrack is going to try his hardest to make changes to the energy sources.  He

stated  “I reject drilling into the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because it would

irreversibly damage a protected national wildlife”.  He agrees with the president on

taking the oil from a Strategic Petroleum Reserve, to help rebuild the amount of lost oil

since Hurricane Katrina.  Obama wants to use this oil for emergences only, he thinks we

shouldn’t  be tapping the reserve to provide a small, short-term decrease in gas prices. “In

order to provide Americans relief from the oil prices going up, we must get serious about

decreasing America's dangerous dependence on foreign oil by increasing fuel efficiency

and investing more in the renewable fuels that can lead us down the path to energy

independence.”

Obama thinks the No Child left behind is taking more money away from the

untied states then educating the children. The schools in the U.S. have failed to provide

high-quality teachers in every classroom, they have also  failed to adequately support and

pay the teachers that are there now.  He wants to make college more affordable for all

families.  Almost 430,000 will be able to afford a good college education, by increasing

Pell Grant awards.  He adds on that, “ We need to invest in our public schools and

strengthen them, not drain their fiscal support.  And for this reason I do not support

vouchers. In the end, vouchers would reduce the options available to children in need.  I

fear these children would truly be left behind in a private market system."   Barrack

thinks that sex education should be taught in school to scare children off of that topic for

longer periods of time, but only young adults would learn about this.  He says that

everyone should respect the importance of good medical care for women.  He will like to

also build new schools and fix up most of the old ones. We need new buildings and

supplies for kids to learn

A lot of people in this country do not have health care.  “I also believe that every

American has the right to afford health care.” States Barrack. “ I believe that  millions of

Americans who can’t take their children to a doctor when they get sick have that right to”

said Obama.  He is going lower the cost of the health insurance, and the families that

don’t have health insurance have an oppertunity to have it.  As soon as he can pass a law

to make the insurance companies lower price of the insurance or provide free insurance

then everyone will have health insurance.  Obama believe’s that fast food places are not

missing up people’s health because, guidelines for advertising and marketing of foods

and beverages must be finalized, and the industry should be encouraged to implement

these guidelines on a voluntary basis.

John McCain is going to try and change the country to.  He will try and change

the health care, education, economy, the energy sources, and the oil problem.

John McCain, will reform Health Care, making it easier for all families to get

health insurance.  An important part in his plan is to use competition to improve the

quality of the health insurance.  He is offering every family $5,000

to offset the cost of insurance.  Families can choose the insurance provider that is best

for  them  and the money would be sent directly to the insurance provider.  He wants to

give out this insurance funding  until the person passes away.  He wants the people in this

country to be able to have health care, everyone of them.  McCain will expand the

benefits of health savings accounts. McCain states “When families are informed about

medical choices, they are more capable of making their own decisions and often decide

against unnecessary options. Health Savings Accounts take an important step in the

direction of putting families in charge of what they pay for.”

“American education must be worthy of the promise we make to our children and

ourselves.”  He understands that we are a nation committed to equal opportunity, and

there is no equal opportunity without equal access to excellent education” said the

candidate, John McCain. McCain says “The public education should be defined as one in

which our public support for a child's education follows that child into the school the

parent chooses.”  He believes that the children’s education depends on how the parents

teach their children to learn. John McCain will fight for everyone to have access to go to

school. He believes in the “No Child Left Behind” concept.  At this age everyone should

just go on with school even if your standard is low, he states that” we can not accept

higher standard students and not lower standard students.”  John McCain believes our

schools can and should compete. The schools should hire  Character-building teachers,

and reward them for taking the job. “If the schools do not change the students should

change the school because the parents should be empowered with the school choice on

what school to send their children.” that is one thing that he believes. John McCain will

place parents and children at the center of the education process, also, letting the parents

be in charge on choosing the school their child goes to. He thinks that if the parent pushes

their child to pass their classes then the parents should get money if they do not pass and

fail their class nothing will be done or giving.

“Our nation's future security and prosperity depends on the next President making

the hard choices that will break our nation's strategic dependence on foreign sources of

energy and will ensure our economic prosperity by meeting tomorrow's demands for a

clean portfolio.”  John McCain has made the necessary choices of  producing more

power, by pushing the technology to help our nation get out of the foreign oil.

He wants to stop receiving oil from foreign countries.  John McCain believes it is time

for the federal government to lift these restrictions and to put our own reserves to use.

He will like to propose  $300 Million Prize To Improve Battery Technology For Full

Commercial Development Of Plug-In Hybrid And Fully Electric Automobiles.

These are the two canidates running for president. The one I think that should

really become president is Obama.  Obama wanted to fix more of everything better then

McCain, besides the education.  The education was the biggest part for John McCain,

Obama didn’t support the education as much as McCain did, but we can’t just have an

education will out this world. Obama is thinking more about the world then McCain.
