Reflection on the Election
Final Draft... NHD
felt threatened by the men and did not vote at all. Susan B. Anthony was a prominent American
Civil Rights leader who played a major role in the 19th century women’s rights movement to
introduce women’s suffrage into the United States. Because of her traveling throughout the
United States and Europe and giving 75 to 100 speeches per year even though she died 14 years,
five months, and five days before the passage of the 19th amendment most of the work and
effort is all due to her. Today women still do not have all of the equal rights as a man does but
when it comes down to voting Susan B. Anthony has made that happen for all females.
After the civil war Susan B. Anthony was upset because the people who where working for
“Negro” suffrage were willing to continue to exclude women from voting rights. Susan B. Anthony used to be a teacher but when she found out that men where being paid more than she was she started acting. A friendship with Amelia Bloomer led to a meeting with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Stanton became her lifelong partner in political organizing, especially for women’s rights and women suffrage. Together the two women made a great team. Anthony managed most of the business affairs while Stanton did most of the writing of the women’s right movements. From 1868 to 1870, Stanton and Anthony edited and published a women’s newspaper called Revolution. In 1869, they formed the National Woman Suffrage Association. They traveled all over the country and abroad, promoting women’s rights. There talents that they used were there speeches and there newspapers this is how they got the other women’s feedback. This had a major impact on Susan B. Anthony’s time because she did not have any kids or get married and this was because she was to busy traveling around the world and helping other women she never had time to settle down and start a family of her own. Just one month before Anthony died; she attended her last suffrage convention.
She made her last speech stating, “Failure is impossible” from this statement I can say that I believe that Anthony knew that women were going to get there rights some day. After her death, only four states gave women the right to vote. However, 14 years later the amendment that stated that women had equal rights was added to the constitution, which is known as the 19th amendment.
Susan B. Anthony is famous for being a women’s right leader. We should care about Anthony because she helped women of all colors and races stand up for there rights. She put her life on hold to help others out. Even though Susan B. Anthony did not live to see what she accomplished I believe that she knew that her day was going to come eventually and if she were alive today, she would be proud of what she has done to help the entire world.

Even though the 19th amendment helped, the women gain the right to vote, many woman still felt threatened by the men and did not vote at all. Susan B. Rough Draft....(Ms.Melville)
The character Squealer twisted the story. When he was telling the other pigs that they where now able to sleep in the beds. "You have heard then, comrades, he sad we pigs now sleep in the beds of the farmhouse." When he knew that none of the animals where able to sleep in beds, which it said that in the seven commandments. There was something about the milk and apples he twisted that story to. He told the animals that the pigs stole the apples and milk for an important reason. Then when they found that Boxer died he lied about that story also. The real story was that Boxer got sold to the horse slaughter. He told the animals "Boxer went and died in a good hospital." Because Squealer was a master of twisting up stories, he ended up rich and powerful at the end of the story.
The next character is Benjamin, he was the animal that was specious about the stories people told him. He didn't get in to any trouble. Benjamin was specious about the storied because he knew how to read and he knew what everything said, and about the seven commandments he knew exactly what they read. He was the only one who didn't take peoples sides, he didn't like doing that. He didn't believe anyone. He said " food would not be plentiful", because there were lots of the animals and not enough food. Also, he said that "the windmill was not saving any work". When it came down to Boxer's death he didn't believe the story. He didn't believe the stories because he was able to read and he read what really happened to Boxer, and how he died. Since he didn't take sides and believe the others storied he survived safely.
The character Boxer believed everything he was told. When the animals were killed he want and asked questions. He asked Squelar and Napeolean on how the animals died. They were such good story tellers that they persuaded him into believing them on how they animals died. He asked " can we have one back, of what we had before?" No one answered. Boxer was staying loyal no matter what happened. He said " I will work harder then before." Then he stated " Naps are always better, for better work." Boxer believed them when they said that he was going to the hospital to get better. The real story was that they took him to the horse slaughter. Now that Boxer was an animal that believed everything he was told her got sold to the horse slaughter and got killed.
How the Animals deal with storied has a major impact on weather they survive. Since, Squealer was a master of twisting up stories, he ended up rich and powerful at the end of the story. Also, Benjamin did not believed they stories he was still alive and survived sly . The last character Boxer was giving to the horse slaughter and he got killed. This book gives a clear picture of what happens when a society is not educated enough to see through the lies they are being told through out their lives.

"The most dangerous game."
English
In the story “The Dangerous Game”, I think the character Zaroff believed in liberty more then equality. These are the three reason’s why I believe that. When the story first introduces Zaroff it says how he lives on an island that he brought just for hunting. On this island he hunted animals and human, he thought hunting human would be more fun since he killed so many animals, and he was tried of hunting down animals. In the story it states that Zaroff said, “ Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and if need be taken by the strong.” Also, he doesn’t mind if people was to get killed. Zaroff would put men into training camps and train them to be just like him so when he goes to hunt them down it would be more of a challenge, and more fun. He put Rainsford into one of those camps so they can battle each other, Rainsford was better than Zaroff so he got even angrier and tried to kill him more, but he died in the end of their battle. At the end of the story, I believe Zaroff stills values liberty more. Another reason is because he says, “ I am strong, why should I not use my gift?, If I wish to hunt why should I not?”. In this statement I think he was trying to say if he wants to do something why should he listen to anybody?, and also, is he wishes to do something then he will do it. Those are the three reasons why I believe that Zaroff values liberty more than equality.

Summary of N.H.D....
The next president...
Barrack Obama should be the next president because, he is planning on changing
the nation. The things that he is planning on changing are the energy source, oil
Problems, education, health care, wage taxes, and the economy.
Barrack is going to try his hardest to make changes to the energy sources. He
stated “I reject drilling into the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because it would
irreversibly damage a protected national wildlife”. He agrees with the president on
taking the oil from a Strategic Petroleum Reserve, to help rebuild the amount of lost oil
since Hurricane Katrina. Obama wants to use this oil for emergences only, he thinks we
shouldn’t be tapping the reserve to provide a small, short-term decrease in gas prices. “In
order to provide Americans relief from the oil prices going up, we must get serious about
decreasing America's dangerous dependence on foreign oil by increasing fuel efficiency
and investing more in the renewable fuels that can lead us down the path to energy
independence.”
Obama thinks the No Child left behind is taking more money away from the
untied states then educating the children. The schools in the U.S. have failed to provide
high-quality teachers in every classroom, they have also failed to adequately support and
pay the teachers that are there now. He wants to make college more affordable for all
families. Almost 430,000 will be able to afford a good college education, by increasing
Pell Grant awards. He adds on that, “ We need to invest in our public schools and
strengthen them, not drain their fiscal support. And for this reason I do not support
vouchers. In the end, vouchers would reduce the options available to children in need. I
fear these children would truly be left behind in a private market system." Barrack
thinks that sex education should be taught in school to scare children off of that topic for
longer periods of time, but only young adults would learn about this. He says that
everyone should respect the importance of good medical care for women. He will like to
also build new schools and fix up most of the old ones. We need new buildings and
supplies for kids to learn
A lot of people in this country do not have health care. “I also believe that every
American has the right to afford health care.” States Barrack. “ I believe that millions of
Americans who can’t take their children to a doctor when they get sick have that right to”
said Obama. He is going lower the cost of the health insurance, and the families that
don’t have health insurance have an oppertunity to have it. As soon as he can pass a law
to make the insurance companies lower price of the insurance or provide free insurance
then everyone will have health insurance. Obama believe’s that fast food places are not
missing up people’s health because, guidelines for advertising and marketing of foods
and beverages must be finalized, and the industry should be encouraged to implement
these guidelines on a voluntary basis.
John McCain is going to try and change the country to. He will try and change
the health care, education, economy, the energy sources, and the oil problem.
John McCain, will reform Health Care, making it easier for all families to get
health insurance. An important part in his plan is to use competition to improve the
quality of the health insurance. He is offering every family $5,000
to offset the cost of insurance. Families can choose the insurance provider that is best
for them and the money would be sent directly to the insurance provider. He wants to
give out this insurance funding until the person passes away. He wants the people in this
country to be able to have health care, everyone of them. McCain will expand the
benefits of health savings accounts. McCain states “When families are informed about
medical choices, they are more capable of making their own decisions and often decide
against unnecessary options. Health Savings Accounts take an important step in the
direction of putting families in charge of what they pay for.”
“American education must be worthy of the promise we make to our children and
ourselves.” He understands that we are a nation committed to equal opportunity, and
there is no equal opportunity without equal access to excellent education” said the
candidate, John McCain. McCain says “The public education should be defined as one in
which our public support for a child's education follows that child into the school the
parent chooses.” He believes that the children’s education depends on how the parents
teach their children to learn. John McCain will fight for everyone to have access to go to
school. He believes in the “No Child Left Behind” concept. At this age everyone should
just go on with school even if your standard is low, he states that” we can not accept
higher standard students and not lower standard students.” John McCain believes our
schools can and should compete. The schools should hire Character-building teachers,
and reward them for taking the job. “If the schools do not change the students should
change the school because the parents should be empowered with the school choice on
what school to send their children.” that is one thing that he believes. John McCain will
place parents and children at the center of the education process, also, letting the parents
be in charge on choosing the school their child goes to. He thinks that if the parent pushes
their child to pass their classes then the parents should get money if they do not pass and
fail their class nothing will be done or giving.
“Our nation's future security and prosperity depends on the next President making
the hard choices that will break our nation's strategic dependence on foreign sources of
energy and will ensure our economic prosperity by meeting tomorrow's demands for a
clean portfolio.” John McCain has made the necessary choices of producing more
power, by pushing the technology to help our nation get out of the foreign oil.
He wants to stop receiving oil from foreign countries. John McCain believes it is time
for the federal government to lift these restrictions and to put our own reserves to use.
He will like to propose $300 Million Prize To Improve Battery Technology For Full
Commercial Development Of Plug-In Hybrid And Fully Electric Automobiles.
These are the two canidates running for president. The one I think that should
really become president is Obama. Obama wanted to fix more of everything better then
McCain, besides the education. The education was the biggest part for John McCain,
Obama didn’t support the education as much as McCain did, but we can’t just have an
education will out this world. Obama is thinking more about the world then McCain.
